A completely updated environment complimenting a custom home in the Club at Ibis.
Scale of Vision
We discovered that the homeowner was displeased with her environment. She wanted everything simplified so that the landscape complimented rather than hid her custom home. We then decided on a formal, modern aesthetic. The homeowner was certain she wanted vines on the wall, but the existing bougainvillea was out of control and improperly installed. She also desired gardenias for a pop of white against the strong green and purple of the bougainvillea.
The existing lighting was inadequate and neither complimented the environment nor aided in visibility. Many of the rain gutter downspouts were damaged, and they needed new drainage to keep water away from the house and landscape beds.
Humbly Collaborate
We decided to do away with everything save the large, existing palms. The bougainvillea was kept, but removed from the wall, reduced, and properly wired up in espalier.
Design Your Environment
The homeowner’s desires were translated into a more modern environment, with super clean lines and a refined plant palette. We properly installed the bougainvillea espalier, and used podocarpus, green island ficus, and jasmine to provide a strong, yet minimal, green thread. We repaired several gutters to re-route water away from the house and outside of landscape beds.
The existing landscape lighting was upgraded to fully adjustable WAC Lighting accent with mini wall wash lights used to highlight the plants and house. We also installed WAC Lighting path lights to ensure a broad scope of illumination for the pathways and driveway.
Experience your Environment
The plant material cleanly complimented the house, and the lighting served to further illuminate and highlight their custom home. Such illumination provided a feeling of pulling into their private castle and designed environment. Finally, navigation through their pathways and driveways was safe and functional.
Sustainable Enjoyment
Reinstalling and properly training the faulty bougainvillea completely revolutionized the aesthetic of the house. It became an accent against the wall that could grow in and continue to compliment the house. This corner of the neighborhood was now lit up with a desirable environment, bringing a modern class to the greater community.
